Dekleva -- A terrific and provocative book : Parag Khanna has written another super book, inspired by the disruption caused by the COVID pandemic, as well as other disruptions caused by climate change, political chaos, wars, and economics. He focuses on how the rise of digital work is changing how young workers live and work. Parag Khanna has also written about how immigration policies are evolving, and how globalization will look post-COVID. Overall, while provocative at times, this book is oddly hopeful, because of its focus on youth and their future mobility. This is a must read. 5 stars! - 4.0 out of 5 stars from Matayo -- A great read, but also the low point of Khanna’s most recent works : I’ll start by saying I’ve been a fan of Khanna’s work for years. I’ve seen his TED talks, ready everything from Connectography onwards, and even bought this book 3 times (once digitally, once in hardback form, and once as an audiobook) in an eager anticipation to consume the content. So I’m disappointed to have to admit that this book missed the mark next seemed, at least on the surface to rely much more heavily on anecdotes and broad generalizations than it should have. Even still, it’s mostly a powerful and insightful primer on global trends in migration and what to expect in coming decades. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Jenna Arnold -- this book couldnt have come soon enough : This book brings together like no other the demographic realities that concern all of as individuals and the big challenges facing humanity like climate change. We need to think about where our children can grow up feeling safe socially and politically, and which places offer safety from environmental disasters. MOVE explains both. I particularly liked how it treats women as decisively positive migrants, whether the great stories about the importance of nurses or as software developers.
